When he was first approached by Sunil to be the co-founder of YourNest Venture Capital, Sanjay refused.
As Sunil’s Executive Coach, one of Sanjay’s self-mandated tasks was to go beyond the obvious and probe deeper into his mentee’s mind: after many discussions and debates, when Sanjay was convinced that YourNest could make a genuine difference to startups, he agreed to come on board. And, thus, was born the concept of ‘Nurture Capital’.
This trait ¬– of questioning to peel away layers – is what makes Sanjay the listener he is. As an experienced executive coach and leadership trainer, he has personally led interventions in over 150 organisations across multiple geographies, and been a startup mentor for almost 15 years. Sanjay helps young entrepreneurs build a strong culture by identifying the right teams, developing a positive, nurturant culture, and creating synergies for high productivity. His involvement begins at the stage when the YourNest Deal Flow team is evaluating a startup, and continues well beyond that as he engages selected founders and their teams with coaching and team-building sessions; his experience also assists startups in selecting key personnel.
A management graduate from IIM Ahmedabad, Sanjay has had diverse industry experience with careers in Hotels, FMCG, Healthcare, Consulting, Sustainable Development, Strategic Consulting and Education. He turned to social entrepreneurship in 1998 and gravitated to Behavioural Training.
An avid outdoorsman, he has been a first division football player, marathoner, gymnast and active trekker. He continues to be a mountaineer, is a trained rock climber, Yoga and Reiki practitioner and a holistic-healing enthusiast. An avid collector of new ideas, Sanjay is also passionately fond of old songs and films.
